Staying in Boston was a good idea, let’s say.
I’ve had a lot of success in Boston this summer. I originally decided to stay out here when I was offered a full-time position at Emerson College working under the lighting supervisor as a technical assistant, or TA. During the summer, there are a few shows that roll in to Emerson’s two mainstage theaters, as well as smaller special events that require technicians including events like Emerson’s Alumni Weekend. Maintenance is also a big part of being on the summer crew. All the lighting instruments need to be serviced, and all the theaters need to be checked for anything that might not be working properly.
Something that I wasn’t expecting to be a part of this summer is the Red Sox’s 2014 Season. I was recently hired as part of of the fundraising staff for the Red Sox Foundation’s 50/50 Raffle, and I’m having a blast. I have the amazing opportunity to work every single home game and sell raffle tickets to benefit a great cause. Working for my favorite team is an absolute dream. Getting paid to have season tickets isn’t so bad, as it turns out.
I’ve also been working overhire around the city, lots of special events in Cambridge this summer.
It’s been quite the ride, and it’s not even halfway over with. Hope to see you soon. LLAP and Go Sox!
